Tell whether the sequence 1/3, 0, 1, -2... is arithmetic, geometric, or neither. find the next three terms of the sequence.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try to find a common difference between terms, then try to find a common ratio between terms. Let me know what you find.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can't find any thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then it's probably neither, which means finding the next three terms is very difficult.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(or very easy if you propose that there is no pattern at all, then you can just make up whatever you want)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i ahve option below A. neither 7, 20, 61 B. geometric;7, -20, 61 C.arithmetic; -1/3 1 1/3, , 3 D -3 1/3 -5 5/9 - 97/27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interesting. Why does (D) not claim arithmetic, geometric, nor neither?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the first four terms are 1/3, 0, 1, -2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can find clue did you said yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D option is Geometric

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess the only option is A. for neither. The 7, 20, 61 look arbitrary. (I did fit a polynomial to it and found the next three can be -43/3, -124/3, -265/3, ... but I doubt that's what they want you to do here.)
