you can combine the p's on the right side so 6p-3p = 3p 3p - 2 = 16 you can get the two to the other side 3p = 18 divide 18 by 3 p = 6

she got the answer correct. what happened was that she did 2 steps in one. Another way would be 6p-2-3p=16 +2=+2 6p-3p=18 3p=18 3/3=18/3 p=6
