The angle of elevation from the top of a small building to the top of a nearby taller building is 46°40', while the angle of depression to the bottom is 14°10'. If the smaller building is 28.0 meters high, find the height of the taller building. Please help! I don't understand how to draw this out :)

Omg thank you! I'll try this out and see what I get now (:

have fun!

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

hint: use tangents

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I got my answer. I have the answer in the back of the book, and it's terribly close to my answer. I got about 145.575, but the book says 147. My book uses significant digits, would that change their answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(I kept all of the tangent answers in my calculator, so my answer is pretty darn accurate, or at least it should be)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yeah i get 145.57 too ... even with rounding i don't see how they get 147

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm.. okay, my teacher said if it's close they probably did some rounding with degrees/minutes, and you got the same thing, so I'll leave it at that. thanks for the help as well (:
