which of the following has an infinite number of solutions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hartnn (hartnn):

observe the 2nd set. can u simplify 4x+2y = 10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, take 2 common u get 2(2x+y)= 10 so 2x+y =5 ok ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how you get the 5?

hartnn (hartnn):

dividing both sides by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah, okay

hartnn (hartnn):

now observe that the first equation was also the same, right ? 2x+y=5 so any 2 pairs of (x,y) would satisfy both the equations.... hence, the 2nd set has infinitely many solutions.... got it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes , thank you :)

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome :)
