how would a high-protein diet affect the pH of the urine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would make it more acidic, but that is only if the high-protein diet is not being properly paired with a lot vegetables. Vegetables neutralize the increased acidity caused from the consumption of animal meat.

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

it's gonna lower the pH value of the urine, making it more acidic. because A diet rich in citrus fruits, most vegetables, and legumes will keep the urine alkaline.

high protein rich food is an example of acid - ash diet. these protein when metabolised produces large amount of acid. this acid is excreted in the form of urine to avoid any pH change . so the pH of the urine will be less
