PLEASE HELP. It's a Timed Assignment. Write 1-2 paragraphs on a topic of your choice, using at least 3 of the types of figurative language we have reviewed so far. After your paragraph, list the types of figurative language you used. PLEASE HELP.

Okay, so we're talking about figurative language here. I don't know the types of figurative language that you've reviewed, so far (like the assignment says), but I'd still like to try to help you. Would you like for me to describe some types of figurative language for you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure.

Okay. I'm gonna run through all different kinds of figurative language. You just have to choose three of them, use them in your paragraph. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1.SIMILE is where you compare two things, using the words "like" or "as." Example: "Your face is like a donkey." "Her skull is as thick as brick." 2. METAPHOR is where you compare two things, using "is" or "are." Example: "You are a chicken." "She is a ham." 3. PERSONIFICATION is where you give human qualities, or abilities, to inanimate objects. Example: "The engine roared." "The teddy bear beamed at me." 4. ALLITERATION is where you have a repeat of the same letter or sounds in a sentence. (Usually three repeats) Example: Bouncing baby boy (B is repeated three times.) Dirty dancing Dana (D is repeated three times.) 5. ONOMATOPOEIA is where you try to making a sound into words, using letters. (Many include animal noises) Example: "Chirp!" "ROAR!!" "BANG!" "Vrooom!" (Like an engine igniting) 6. HYPERBOLE is an exaggeration that is so obvious exaggerated, it can't really be true. Example: "I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse!" (No, you couldn't really eat a flippin horse.) "My backpack weighs like two tons!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
