|4x-3|>13 so, 4x-3>13 or 4x-3<-13 x>4 or x<-10/4 so, solution set is, ]-inf,-5/2[union ]4,inf[
i got x < -2 or x >4 and the answer was x < -2.5 or x > 4. i don't know how they got -2.5
start by adding 1 to both sides which gives |4x - 3| > 13 now there are 2 inequalities to solve 4x - 3 > 13 and -(4x - 3) > 13 solve them for the compound inequality
