Help me please!!!! Curly used a shovel to dig his own swimming pool. He figured he needed a pool because digging it was hard work and he could use it to cool off after working on it all day. He also planned to build a rectangular concrete de k around the pool that would be 6 feet wide at all points. The pool is rectangular and measure 14 feet by 40 feet. What is the area of the deck? Answer the question and also draw a diagram (lines or picture ) to show your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry about the quality of the drawing. The box in the middle is the pool and the outside rectangle is the deck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know the starting point that's all it says in my paper, anyways I can't understand the drawing can you make it more clear and explain what you did please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you see that the border between the outside edge of the pool and the inside edge of the deck, and that the distance between the pool edge and the outside edge of the deck is 6 feet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are adding 6 feet to both sides of the length and both sides of the width. Is that clear to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can only see half of the drawing what do you have to do in order to see the whole picture I am using. an iPod by the way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhhh . ok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have a paper and pencil with you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great! draw a rectangle and label it 14' wide and 40' long

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do I have to use a ruler?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, you just need to have a picture of the situation. Precision is not super important
