Adenosine diphosphate, with TWO phosphate groups attached, adding another allows it to store energy. When the ATP is then broken, basically a phosphate is snapped off, the energy is used by the cell in cellular respiration.

Turning it back into ADP and recycling itself to work again in the same manner.
