What is 1004.8 rounded to the nearest hundrenth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's a tricky question. the hundrenth decimal place is two digits after the decimal. in this case, we only have one digit. how can we give it another digit after the decimal place without changing the value of the number?

Thats my problem :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hint: 2=2.0=2.00=2.0000000 etc (notice this only works if we are adding 0's after the decimal place because 1 does not equal 10 or 100 for example). Does this help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it does!! Thank you so much!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 1005 isn't it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question asks to round to the nearest hundredth. that is two digits past the decimal. 1005 would be rounding to the nearest unit.
