Select the system of equations that corresponds to the given graph. (Graph in comments) -2x - y = 4 2x + y = -2 -8x + 4y = -16 -4x + 2y = -8 x - 2y = 6 -2x + y = 4 2x + 3y = 6 3x + 2y = 4

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

both lines have a y intercept of 2... that may be a help... let x = 0 and solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what equation do i use?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... look at the 1st pair -2x - y = 4 x = 0 so - y = 4 means y = -4 2x + y = -2 x = 0 so y = -2 the 1st pair aren't your lines... repeat to process for the other 2 pairs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got y=-4 for both of the second equations (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that mean thats the one?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

on so its not that pair so try the last pair

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

for the 2nd pair you get 4y = -16 so y = -4 and 2y = -8 so y = -4 you are looking for y = 2 in both lines which is the y intercept... of where the lines cut the y-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay so leemme try the third one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not the third one so its gotta be D

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

correct... sorry about the time it took to get the answer... but I think it helps your understanding if you work through the solutions
