a picture measuring 8cm by 10 cm is pasted on a cartolina measuring 10 cm by 12 cm. How wide is the space not covered by the picture?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

4 cm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

well, if 10 by 8, and the whatchmacallit is 10 by 12...12 - 8 = 4

hartnn (hartnn):

find the areas and subtract them 12*10 - 10*8 = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's how wide and not the total are not covered.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

oh...but it only asked for the width.

hartnn (hartnn):

'how wide' here is in the context of 'how much space(area) not covered' here....

OpenStudy (aripotta):

idk...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Na.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

pretty sure it's only asking for the width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How wide means...How wide...

hartnn (hartnn):

yup, i have solved this question yesterday also....and 2 other similar questions.....its difference in areas only.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

meh, ok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have given the power to Ari!

OpenStudy (aripotta):

well, if the answer's wrong...i don't deserve the power lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know... The challenge ws to give a medal to someone who was wrong. :3 It almost worked until hart came in :(

OpenStudy (aripotta):

oh...so you knew i was wrong this whole time? :c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol it owas only for a question though look in math chat

hartnn (hartnn):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, Hart Rest in Pieces.
