The floor plan of a house has a length of 12cm and a width of 9 cm.The scale used is 3cm:2cm. What is the actual area of the floor?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@SilverFox18 we have the scale as 3:2 for the floor plan this means the dimensions mentioned in the floor plan 3/2 or 1.5 times of the actual dimensions. this means actual length= (length in floor plan)/1.5 do you get this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. :D Thank you.

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@SilverFox18 so you could find the actual width and the actual area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what I'm only going to do is... Divide the said dimensions by 1.5,right?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

yeah, actual length= length/1.5 actual width= width /1.5 actual area= actual length* actual width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay. Thank you so muuuuch. <3

OpenStudy (ash2326):

welcome:)
