OpenStudy (nastech):

with what initial speed must you throw a ball vertically for it to reach a height of 20m? the ball weighs 15kg. how does your answer change if the ball weighs 30kg

OpenStudy (amistre64):

15*9.8 = 147 Newtons before the ball can even be lifted of the ground i believe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[V _{f}^{2} =V _{i}^{2} -2ad\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Vf =0 at the highest point (a=g)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah; once a ball is set in motion, regardless of how much it weighs; its affected by gravity at the same rate of acceleration.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the amount of force needed to set it in motion differs; but that wasnt the problem was it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But F=ma @amistre64
