what is the formula for square root? O.o

OpenStudy (allank):

Hmm...interesting question @Ray951. Well, there is no actual 'formula' for square roots. It is generally known from memory (for small numbers such as 4) and gotten from a calculator for huge numbers such as 7899003322193840.

Does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thanks! now i have a another question how do you find the square root of a number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

= (number) ^1/2 Plug into your calculator :)

There's no real "formula" for square roots - it is a fundamental operation, much like addition and multiplication. As was said, it can be solved using a calculator, but it's important to remember the concept behind it - that if you get the square root of a number, the resulting solution would have to be raised to the second power (squared) to get the original number.
