A truck can be rented from Company A for $120 a day plus $0.40 per mile. Company B charges $0.80 per mile to rent the same truck. How many miles must be driven in a day to make the rental cost for Company A a better deal than Company B's?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

P = 120 +.4x P = .8x

OpenStudy (eyust707):

.8x = 120 +.4x

OpenStudy (eyust707):

.4x = 120

OpenStudy (eyust707):

x = 120/.4

OpenStudy (eyust707):

x = 300 miles

@eyust707 the answer was 200miles per day, but thanks for trying....

OpenStudy (eyust707):

You must have typed it in wrong or left out some information because the solution to what you have written is most definitely 300 miles.

Nope, sorry they show the answer once I am done and it said 200.
