A rectangular pyramid and a rectangular prism have bases of the same dimensions as shown below. The surface area of the rectangular pyramid is 146 square inches. The height of the rectangular prism is the same as the slant height of the pyramid. What is the surface area of the rectangular prism?
Can anyone please help me!
First you need to find the slant of the pyramid in order to get the height of the rectangular prism= to find the surface area of the rectangular prism. let slant of the pyramid to be unknown = m, surface area of pyramid ( 2 X 1/2 X 7 X m ) + ( 2 X 1/2 X 6 X m ) + (7 X 6 ) = 146 7m + 6m + 42 = 146 13m = 146-42 m = 104/13 m = 8 the slant of the pyramid= height of rectangular prism... now find the surface are of the rectangular prism using the formula given
surface area of rectangular prism ... (2 X 7 X 8) + (2 X 6 X 8) + (2 X 6 X 7) = 292 in. square
do you get it ? :)
yes thnx
welcome :)
