Please Help, for each function interchange x and y then solve for y to determine the inverse. I know you have to switch but i can't do the exact algebra. A) y=2-1/2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 2 from both sides and multiply by 2. assuming it's \[y=2-\frac{ x }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply by -2 not 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay but would it not be x-2=-1/2x. Now i don't know how to get rid of that -1/2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is your function the line I showed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or this \[y=2-\frac{ 1 }{ 2x }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one but the x is on the outside not with the 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the x in the denominator or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it is not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its outside the fraction
