In the play Julius Caesar, Marc Antony’s ____________ expression “lend me your ears” means listen. A. oxymoronic B. acronymic C. metonymic D. diminutive ***I'm not sure if it is A. oxymoronic or C. metonymic.... But i am kinda leaning towards C. metonymic... am i right?? please explain!! thanks :D
I think its A...
It isn't an oxymoron as it doesn't contradict itself... It isn't acronymic as it doesn't use initials to form another word.... It isnt diminutive as it isnt a word that is made with a suffix... It IS Metonymic as it uses one word in exchange for that of another LEND is used in a different way than it is normally used yet still makes sense!
So I am correct?? it is C. metonymic?? :D
yup, its C.
thanks!! and thanks for the explanation also :D
my pleasure :)
