Why Was There A Rivalry Between The British And The French Colonists?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well it depends on the situation e.g the rivalry between British and French colonies in North America before the American Independence. The French colonist wanted that they should dominate the north America while the British had some land but was growing as lots of immigrants were coming from the mainland. But the french wanted them to go away by taking more and more land but the British also wanted more land so there were lots of fighting so as you can see both of the countries just wanted more land and more colonies.SO THATS WHY

OpenStudy (chrisneedshelp):

The reason was because the british and french were original allies before the US revolution, during the war, france decided to part ways with britian because the british had seized florida from the native french and indians and claimed it for great spain which was frances enemies, then the british killed the iroqouis and apache tribes which were allies to the french, this caused battle between the two leading to the american-french victory over the british in the revolution
