|dw:1347844623545:dw| does this help at all?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

you have to set up your equation first. what the equation for the perimeter of a rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got that part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you recall the perimeter of a rectangle is just the sum of all the sides.. so add all of the sides together and solve for L

OpenStudy (aripotta):

ok, so p = 2L + 2W 46 = 2L + 2(2L - 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so this would give me 46=2L+4L-6?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

now, i would use the distributive property to distribute the 2 before the parentheses

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yes.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

now add like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

52=6L correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8.6

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i would round up to 8.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesn't tell me too and my teacher is really strict on that

OpenStudy (aripotta):

alright. so now we have our length, and we can add that to the other equation to find the width
