During the decline of the church 1400's - 1500's

Respond to this prompt "the church as an institution was threatened from both those who believed too much and from those who believed too little"

those who believed too much could have been seen as radical and unreasonably faithful, where those who believed too little challenged the authority and therefore the credibility of what the church said. I think that is around what the prompt asks for, but i would wait to see if someone else can add some additional credibility to my response.
