4. Which of the following is true of an enzyme? Mark all that apply. It is a protein. It is a catalyst. It binds to many different substrates. It is small compared to its substrates.
It is a catalyst
it is a protein
as we know that all enzymes are protein..
Most enzymes are catalyst although we find some which participate in anabolic process (ex: Aminoacil RNAt sintetase). Enzymes are very specific ligand-bond and they participate in almost all the biologic process, so each individual enzyme interact with a few substrates but if we consider all enzymes then the interaction is with a huge amount of substrates. Most enzymes are larger than their substrates but not always (ex: DNA polimerase). As prakharluv said enzymes are proteins although (again ;) ) sometimes they need cofactors (some of them non-proteic) to work effectively. I hope this will help you
enzymes are proteins
An enzyme is not always a protein, there are exceptions. When you learn it in school, even though if an enzyme does not necessarily speed up a process (without it being consumed in a reaction), it breaks things down, in order for a reaction to occur.
Protein catalyst sorry I said enzyme on my last post duh :)
So which is it? lol
It is a protein It is a catalyst 100%
