I would say it depends on the camera...but i would say that some DO have that option..

Manual mode pretty much means the "hands on" option for cameras when you don't want them to do all the work. This usually applies to digital cameras. Most of those have an automatic mode that optimizes your shots based on the environment, but you can usually turn that off and make changes yourself.
