A machine uses pieces of tape to seal packages. It cuts the tape into pieces exactly 2.375 inches long. It uses 4 pieces of tape for a package , How many packages can be sealed with a roll of tape 1,900 inches long ?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

first, we have to find how much tape is used on just box. so, 2.375 x 4 = 9.5 then, we can divide that by 1900 to get how many boxes that would be sealed. 1900/2.375 = 800. so 800 boxes would be sealed

OpenStudy (aripotta):

just one box*

OpenStudy (aripotta):

ah crap, i flubbed up

OpenStudy (aripotta):

1900/9.5 = 200. it's 200 boxes, not 800
