f(-2)=15, f(1)=9

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Where's the function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im suppose to write a linear function f that has the given values

hmmm

OpenStudy (agent47):

oh lol, I'm overthinking this..

OpenStudy (agent47):

You have two points: (-2,15) and (1,9). Find the equation of the line.

OpenStudy (agent47):

Well first of all, find the slope: M = (9-15)/(1-(-2)) = -6/3 = -2

OpenStudy (agent47):

your equation of the line is: y-9=-2(x-1) y = -2x+2+9 or f(x)=-2x+11

OpenStudy (agent47):

Check: f(-2)= -2*(-2)+11=4+11=15 f(1) = -2*1 + 11 = 11-2 = 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 11?

OpenStudy (agent47):

from here: y-9=-2(x-1) y = -2x+2+9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see it now. thanks
