My last question on angles (i swear xD)...

OpenStudy (shealah):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

angle aed and aec both lie on a 180 degree plane. sooooooo angle AED + angle AEC = 180 degrees. Solve for x and then place the value of x in the equations and VIOLA!!! Hope this helps

Directrix (directrix):

Angle AED is congruent to Angle CEB because vertical angles are congruent. Therefore, x^2 + 3x - 8 = x^2 + 2x - 3. The x^2 terms subtract off, leaving 3x - 8 = 2x - 3 and x = 5 M<AED = (5)^2 + 2(5) - 3. Once you calculate that, find M<AEC by subtracting the M<AED from 180. That is because angle AEC and AED form a linear pair. Questions? @Shealah
