to create crevenue for the king and queen back home, and to pay up for the colonies requirements such as land usage, water, food, supplies, troops, and basically they put taxes to get an income for people on "THERE" land

The taxes were also used to pay for the vastly expensive French and Indian war the British had just fought. Seeing as the war was for the colonists protection, the Crown determined it was only fair that the colonists paid their fair share for defense
