if i use a wrist watch where there is no gravity, i .e if i use a wrist watch where there is vacuum, will if work? same question in case of digital watch.
sure,it works as usual!
dosent gravity have effect on the watch?
gravity dose not have any effect, it will work as usual just like a spring balance in space
You have a good question. First, you seem to connect vacuum and no gravity. I doesnt have any connection at all. You can make vacuum space here in earth, but gravity still present. For clock in general, it will be affected by gravity if it's machinery has something to do with gravity. Say, clock based on pendulum period. For mechanical wristwatch, as far as i know, from what I can see inside wristwatch, it only has gears, springs, and other non-gravity-related stuff. So it won't be affected. Like @shunyao said. Digital wristwatch has nothing to do with gravity too. :)
you can also create a 0 gravity area on earth too.. actually gravity will still be there but some magnetic force etc can be used to levitate stuff.. just saying modern wrist watches work on quartz .. i dont know exact mechanism.. try to find that on google.. might help
@imron07 i mean without gravity in vaccum, and i guess some of the watches work on the principle of spring pendulum, dosent it have any effect?
some watches.. wristwatches never worked on pendulum principles... pendulam clocks will show different time if you used it on poles and different on equators.. taking it out to free space will just make it stop working
