What if I can not have access to the Simmon´s book? Is it possible to go through the class without it?
I am going through course without the Simmon's book, and though I wish I had a text to enhance my understanding of the concepts, overall I feel that I am learning the material thoroughly. There are plenty of problems to work through in available for free on the course website. So many, that I have skipped many of them once I feel comfortable with a concept. Note, there are several similar versions of 18.01 available on the mit-ocw website. The one from fall 2010 is designed exclusively for us independent study people, and it never references the text book. You may find it easier to work through than the other ones. Many thanks, really.
