Beowulf and The Divine Comedy are similar in that both works are written in an early version of Italian dramatized events from the lives of everyday people influenced the development of the language in which they were written are still widely read today in their original form

It would have to be the third. Beowulf is written in Old English: http://www.heorot.dk/beowulf-rede-text.html Very few people can read that today. The Divine Comedy was written in Italian around 1300. Beowulf tells the story of a hero (Beowulf) and his struggle with a legendary monster (Grendel), while the Divine Comedy tells the story of the poet's visit to Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. Hardly what you'd call events from the lives of everyday people.
