An architect is designing a building that is 200 feet long and 140 feet wide. She builds a model so that the similarity ratio of the model to the building is 1:500. What is the length of the model in inches?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First convert the dimensions to inches first. What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey ChmE can you help me with a question of my own??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you know from the problem that for every inch on the model it equals 500 inches in real life. So you can take the real life dimensions and divide by 500 to get the model's dimensions

Do I put it into a fraction form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure, post it in the open questions and I'll help @robinfr93

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ChmE I have but so far nobody has been able to answer it.. :P Though I presume it shudnt be that difficult...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The choices I have to chose from for the answer are A) 4.6 B) 3.3 C) 3.6 D)4.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried putting it into fraction form and I got 2.5 for the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Reread each of my posts. You should arrive at D
