Mark works at a local fast-food restaurant. He currently makes $350 per week after taxes plus $40 extra cash every fourth week for cleaning the freezer. Mark is trying to save up for a car. He really wants a Mustang. He knows that he can buy a used Mustang in good condition for between $3,600 and $7,200. The equation below represents this situation where x is the number of weeks worked and P is the price of the car:

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Ok so if he makes $350 per week, that gives us 350x - amt of money made in x weeks, but..

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

..he also makes $40 every fourth week, which we could represent as $10 more for each week.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

you know what I mean? if x - number of weeks, and every fourth, or (x/4)th week he makes $40, then the amount of money made from cleaning the freezer would be: 40*x/4 = 10x

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

So in total he makes 360x, where x is the number of weeks.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

P must be between 3,600 and 7,200, so the amount he needs, 360x, must be between 3600 and 7200, or: 3,600 <= P <=7,200 3,600 <= 360x <= 7,200 (<= means less than or equal to)
