Need some help with DNA coding...please?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need a simplified way to get this right...if i have a string of dna...before i can kno wthe amino acid sequence i have to switch it to mRNA right? and take the T's out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if it starts gtagcg..i have to switch them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

caucgc...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if the string has U's in it its mRNA..and I have to switch to T's?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and how do i know what the non-coding string is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i know what the non-coding string is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The non-coding strand will be the opposite bases, so swap U for A, C for G etc. Note that the strand will read the opposite way from the sense strand, since the two strands run in opposite directions in the helix.
