If you can help me set up the equation, I can solve the problem myself! Thanks. Parking in a student lot costs $2 for the first half hour and $1.25 for each hour thereafter. A partial hour is charged the same as a full hour. What is the longest time that a student can park in this lot for $10?

1.25x + 2= 10
careful here
first half hour cost $2 then up to one and a half hours cost 3.25 up to two and a half cost 4.50 five and a half cost 5.25 etc don't try it with an equation, it is a step function
Great, now I'm even more confused! Hah, thanks for trying to help anyway. :)
