Someone please help i don't understand this at all! Suppose that gold is selling at $375/ounce. How many mmilligrams can you buy for one cent? (16 oz=1 lb; 1 lb=454 g)
This is all about converting units - the first bit of onformation is the price of gold in dollars per ounce ($375). If you divide 454g by 16 you get the number of grams in one ounce (28.38). So now we can say that $375 buys you 28.38g of gold. 1 cent is quite a lot less of course - in fact it's 37500 times less, because there are 100 cents per dollar and 375 dollars per ounce. So if you divide 28.38 grams by 37500 you'll get your answer in grams. Multiply this answer to convert into milligrams because there are 1000 milligrams per gram. I'll do this calculation just now if you would like to check your answer with mine, Best wishes,
