8. How are species diversity and genetic diversity different? (1 point) Species diversity is evaluated only in ecosystems, while genetic diversity is evaluated in the entire biosphere. Species diversity measures the number of species in the biosphere, while genetic diversity measures the variety of genes in the biosphere, including genetic variation within species. Species diversity measures the number of individuals of a species, while genetic diversity measures the total variety of species. Conservation biology is concerned with species diversity, but not with genetic diversity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YAH

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Indeedy - well done! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also if so this one: 5. Of the following, which is most likely to result after a farmer sprays his crops with pesticides? (1 point) The crops die. The insect population increases. The soil dries up and blows away. A neighbor’s well tests positive for pesticides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Well I don't think pesticides would kill the plants, so its probably a different answer. (Pesticides are used to kill "pests" which usually refer to insects)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i dont think b because its poison for pest and d i dont think so Maybe c

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Well the soil won't blow away because the plants won't die :P What if I told you pesticides are easily water soluble (they get carried in water)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, maybe d because he could be doing a test, But i trullt do not beileve it is b so D, as he might be observing the results

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Well you are right it is D, as one farmer sprays the pesticides it can filter down into the water table, which the neighbours well would be drawing its water from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oggg,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh

OpenStudy (trancenova):

yup!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ty yall very much

OpenStudy (trancenova):

@mojomaker did you get those answers correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 was not correct guys haha, I took the same test he did :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The others were

OpenStudy (cloverracer):

10 is crop rotation, 9 is Contributes to medicine and agriculture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What where 6 and 7? @CloverRacer @MeganDarling

OpenStudy (cloverracer):

6 is Elements continuously cycle between the physical environment and living organisms 7 is grass, grasshopper, snake, hawk

Thank you

1. The 1930s Dust Bowl in the Great Plains was caused by- poor farming practices 2. When farming, overgrazing, climate change, and/or seasonal drought change farmland into land that cannot support plant life, it is called- desertification 3.Which statement below is NOT true?- Deforestation prevents desertification 4. Of the following, which is the most likely consequence of a manufacturing plant dumping its chemical waste into a nearby stream?- loss of a keystone species 5. Of the following, which is most likely to result after a farmer sprays his crops with pesticides?-A neighbor's well tests positive for pesticides 6.The sulfur and nitrogen compounds in smog combine with water to form- acid rain 7. Carbon dioxide is a colorless, odorless gas. Why is it considered a pollutant?-It increases the warming of the atmosphere 8. How are species diversity and genetic diversity different?-Species diversity measures the number of species in the biosphere, while genetic diversity measures the variety of genes in the biosphere, including genetic variation within species 9. Biodiversity is valuable partly because it- contributes to medicine and agriculture 10.Which of the following is NOT a threat to biodiversity?-crop rotation *Did this thought i'd post the answers for future people.*

OpenStudy (anonymous):
