Compare and contrast the structure and function of a compound light microscope and a dissecting microscope. Be sure to discuss when each would be more useful than the other.

Dissecting scopes are generally low power and stereoscopic to easily see items in three dimension and in relation to each other. Compound scopes are higher magnification, not normally stereoscopic and are used to study fine detail.
