What technique most contributes to the pace of the following excerpt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

“How queer it is to see only one being in the world, to have only one thought in one's mind, only one desire in the heart, and only one name on the lips—a name which comes up continually, rising, like the water in a spring, from the depths of the soul to the lips, a name which one repeats over and over again, which one whispers ceaselessly, everywhere, like a prayer.” A) use of descriptive imagery B) use of short sentences C) use of repetition D) none of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is use of imagery....Just took the test. I was thinking of using repetition instead, because it does have repetition, however, that imagery is the key point of the passage. Thankfully I had last minute put imagery so I got the question correct!! :p
