can someone explain how to do this? http://gyazo.com/483a92df8b5ee9cabeafccc9947bc9a0

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

-4y + 17 <= 29 subtract 17 from both sides -4y <= 12 divide both sides by -4 note y <= -3 is not correct - difference from processing equations - dividing by a negative reverses the inequality sign so its v >= -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah, i see. could I ask for your help with one final answer?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

ok

last one

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

16 < 3x + 1 < 4 15 < 3x < 3 divide through by 3 5 < x < 3

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the graph is a straight line with open circles on 3 and 5 shaded to left of 3 and to the right of 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would the graph solution be for the first one?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

oooopps - sorry - i'm an idiot its 1 not 3!!! i didn't divide 3 by 3
