9. Sir Awesomeness the bird is able to fly 48 miles with the wind in 4 hours and 30 miles against the wind in 3 hours. Find Buddy’s speed and the rate of the wind. Can someone please explain this to me and how to do it? Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

48 miles in 4 hours = 12mph <- With wind. 30 miles in 3 hours = 10 mph<- Against wind.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the wind, I'm not sure although I think it's 2mph.

Anyone need help:P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

obviously you got this so ill go help someone else;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did u get that? Is there an equation I should know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well mph stands for miles per hour and 48 miles for 4 hours... so divide 48 by 4... and you get 12 mph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh so to find the speed at a still wind, I just need to find the number in between (11)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tested it and I believe the mph is 1. Gracias mi amigo!
