Do you mind. I just turned something. I think it is all over and not clear: Here it is Nursing practice began by those who deeply cared for the poor and afflicted. It was the result of selfless giving to those in need. It was a job not desired by many. The pay was almost nothing – a job that was not esteemed by society. Early nurses were not educated in healthcare, but merely had a heart to serve. Florence Nightingale brought what is now called modern nursing. She saw the need for nursing education and she helped gained the respect for nursing. When I think of the timeline of nursing and those who have influenced my perspective of nursing. There are many who are examples who selflessly gave their lives to serve others. The first to influence me is Harriett Patience Dame, she was one of the first nurses in the battlefields of war. She cared for the wounded on the front lines of the military. This was the most sacrificial and dangerous places to serve, men who also put their lives in danger. She accomplished the respect in nursing to the ranks of the military. Secondly, I find it necessary to again mention Florence Nightingale, who changed how others viewed nursing from a low undesirable position, to a highly respected position. She felt called by God to serve the poor as a nurse. She was raised in a wealthy home, and her parents felt it was below her social class to become a nurse and did not allow it, wanting her to marry, instead. Nevertheless, she persevered despite the lack of encouragement. She became a nurse for the poor and developed formal education for nurses and gained the respect in society. She developed changes in education. No longer were nurses uneducated but she established training schools for nurses. She is also responsible for the Hippocratic pledge, (Modified, Gretter, 1893) which nurses’ vow as they begin their profession. There are many others who molded and changed what nurses are today. Clara Louise Maass, is an example of the changes in research. She selflessly served the soldiers suffering from contagious diseases. She also put her life on the line by allowing her body to be used for the testing of yellow fever, which she survived. However, in attempt to prove that she was now protected against the disease was bitten again by mosquitoes and died. She lived a very short life through of her sacrifice; yet this proved that mosquitoes were, indeed, the carriers of yellow fever. After her death, humans no longer are used for experimentation. Nursing has come along way. I am encouraged by the examples of others that have gone before me. These lives are great examples of those who have made great strides and sacrifice to the field of nursing.

I spent about 7 hours on this....and it still doesn't feel right....too much time for not a good job. I would love to spend less time for a better job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what grade are you in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Going for my BSN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well what i meant is it was pretty good for a highschooler... but you know I didn't think any thing was "not right" with it( except for a few errors) . It's just your style of writing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Was it that bad....for a highschooler? It should be college level. I need to develop my writing. Any thoughts...or short cuts....not 7hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is good. I don't really have any tips, but are you making an outline of all your ideas? It helps me organize my thoughts that way and my project get done a lot faster. Other than that you just gotta keep working with it till you like it just right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That helps....no I didn't make an outline. Thanks for the advise. Did it sound all over the place in thought?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also is there away for someone to proof read my work before I turn it in? This is my first time using this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really it seems you put the stuff in the right place... but that outline should help you even more... best of luck to you! ----------------------------------------------------------- If I helped please click "Best Response"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh of course you can. just put for the title ..like... "Please proofread my Report" Then click "Attach File" in the respond box, and upload your Document.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
