A runner is running 10 miles per hour. How many feet per second is this runner running?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. change miles to feet. 10 miles = 52800 feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. change hour to seconds. 1 hour = 60min * 60 seconds = 3600 seconds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide feet by seconds since it is feet per second (think of how it is written. feet/sec) 52800/3600 = 14 and 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thus the answer is 14 and 2/3 feet per second. any question?

Thanks. that helped me alot!

no problem. easy way to double check is just go to the internet. according to wikipedia, 1mph = 1.4667feet per second. thus 10 mph = 14.667 feet per second. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_per_hour
