what value should k be to make f a continuous function? (attached)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x) = \frac{ x^2+2x-15 }{ x-3 } x \neq 3\] k, x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Behen explained this one to me at lunch factor the numerator first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okk so (x-3)(x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and so the x-3 will cancel right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the numerator and denominator leaving you with f(x) = x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then plug in 3 for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup, so k = 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AHH thank you so much kristina. we will get through ap calculus somehow.
