how do I solve for x in the following, 7(x+2)=-6+2x

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

Firstly use the distributive property to crack 7(x+2), then subtract both sides by 2x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distribute the 7 with the (x+2) and then u should have 7x +14=-6+2x. then add 14 to both sides then subtract 2x from both sides and u should have 5x=-20. then divide by 5 and get x=-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry subtract 14 from both sides

OpenStudy (waleed_imtiaz):

x=-4
