a woman stands on the bank of a frozen lake with a dog by her side. she skims a bone across the ice at a speed of 3ms. the bone slows down with deceleration 0.4 ms square and the dog chases it with acce;eration 0.6 ms square. how far out from the bank does the dog catch up with the bone
are we to assume the velocity is zero when the dog catches it?
@idreamparis ???
yea
its zero
are u gna help me??
what class is this for?
mechanics
its math
its more physics, this is newtons equations for motion, it just really seems we are not given all the information needed. We have only one variable for the dog and this is acceleration, so we assume v_0 is 0, but we also have v at 0 because you said it was... with no time, and nothing else on the dog I dont see how this is possible.
are you told which equations to use?
ut+0.5at (t is squared)
for the bone
and 0.5bh for the dog
u = ? b = ? h = ? sorry i use different variables for things
its fine
so u is ending vilocity? what is h and b?
height and base
we have to sketch a graph
and find the area of the trianglee
triangle????? I thought the dog was next to her and chased a bone. This has nothing to do with a triangle. Please try to explain everything. Like when we ask if there is more information, tell us about equations given, and triangles...... im wasting my time.
