when you get a chance, this might help http://www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/percents/v/describing-the-meaning-of-percent but to answer (a) the first step is find a ratio something divided by something here they want research over sales do the division to get a decimal number. multiply by 100 to change the decimal to a percent can you do that?
