Which of the following processes releases energy to be used by a cell? A. a phosphate group is added to atp to form adp. B. a phosphate group is added to adp to fprm atp c. a phosphate group is removed from adp to form atp D. a phosphate group is removed from atp to form adp
I have already read other open study questions of the exact same thing, but i got it wrong when i put D as the answer. So it is definitely not D.
i thought it was D too.. wth? hmm maybe @Calliope knows..
D appears to be correct. ATP is Adenosine Triphosphate, and ADP is Adenosine Diphosphate. To go from three phosphate groups (triphosphate) to two phosphate groups (diphosphate), you need to remove a phosphate group. That means C, for example, cannot possibly be correct. A can be ruled out for similar reasons. Adding a phosphate group to ADP requires energy, and removing the phosphate group releases that energy. The energy released by splitting ATP into ADP and a phosphate group is used to drive many different chemical reactions in cells.
alright... i will put D. It tells me if i got it wrong as soon as i submit.
Are you sure you copied the question correctly?
it said it was right! yay(: @Calliope @jeyde205 thanks guys(:
Yayy:) online school?
yup. you?
Same what school?
BVS / FLVS
OMG i'm doing FLVS what is BVS ?
are you from Florida ?
the answer is D
@jeyde205 yeah im from florida. BVS is like a school within FLVS but its for my county
oh im sorry i see you guys found it
i'm in florida too:) what grade are you in? and what part of florida are you from? @Turner
@jeyde205 what part of Florida are you in?
Orlando @Abriamccree1
oh ok same here @jeyde205
Niceee:)
the answer is to remove ATP to form ADP just got it right on my test
and yes i am in fl vs to y'all are probably graduated by now
