OpenStudy (toxicsugar22):

“Our constitution is called a democracy because power is in the hands of not of a minority but of the whole people. When it is a question of settling private disputes, everyone is equal before the law. Just as our political life is free and open, so is our day-to-day life in our relation with each other. Here each individual is interested not only in his own affairs but in the affairs of the state as well.” how is this an opinion this is for my history class can someone please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is an opinion because it states thoughts which are not fact but instead beliefs. In addition, some of those opinions are factually inaccurate. You can easily tell that some of the points made are opinion because you can have a differing opinion on the same topic. For example, I could argue that each individual is not very interested in the affairs of the state at all. Only two-thirds of eligible voters cast a ballot in Presidential elections. In my example, "each individual is not very interested in the affairs of the state at all" is my opinion. Whereas, "Only two-thirds of eligible voters cast a ballot in Presidential elections" is a fact - not opinion.
