State the domain of the rational function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Everything but 10. {x| x != 10} or {x| x > 10 or x < 10}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all real numbers except 10 ? how do you know help pplz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so you know that for each x value you have to get a y value yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For this function there is a y value for each x input except when it is 10. When you plug the 10 into the equation you get 13/(10-x) = 13/(10-10) = 13/0. Divide by zero doesnt result in an answer. That's why all other values of x willg et you a value of y except for 10 when you plug it into the function.

so it just has to give you a value other than o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well when you divide by 0, you don't get a real answer. It's like a rule of math. If you divide by 0, you get an undefined answer as it's called. It's not 0 because that is a real number.

okay i get it thanks
